Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz is wanted by a string of Europe’s biggest clubs this summer, but the Brazilian will not come cheaply.

Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus have all been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old who had another excellent season with the Villains.

Luiz has been at Villa Park since 2019 and has been very consistent since then, making over 200 appearances for the club in all competitions.

He enjoyed the best goal-scoring season of his career to date this time round, netting nine in the Premier League and 10 in all competitions.

The former Manchester City man has long been linked with a move away from Villa and this summer will be no different, with huge clubs circling once again.

Italian publication CalcioMercato reports the interest of Juventus, but notes that the Turin club will be up against it in a battle for Luiz when there is interest from the trio of Premier League giants.

The report states that Villa will ask for at least £60m for Luiz if they are to let him go, but this could be a conservative estimate given the strength of position the club is in.

Unai Emery has guided Villa into the Champions League after finishing fourth in the Premier League, meaning there will be much less incentive to leave to pursue top level football elsewhere.

The Brazilian’s contract runs until 2026, but the riches of the Champions League and impressive improvement of the team mean that a new contract is a distinct possibility.

A new contract would certainly ward off any suitors and allow Luiz to focus on the season to come and the upcoming Copa America, where he has been included in the Brazil squad.
