Liverpool have confirmed that Erik Farkas has signed his first professional contract with the club, marking another important step in the 17-year-old midfielder’s development at the Academy.
Farkas put pen to paper on his new deal at the AXA Training Centre on Friday after progressing through Liverpool’s youth setup since joining the Academy at under-12 level. He is currently part of Simon Wiles’ U18 side.
Speaking to Liverpool’s official website after signing the contract, Farkas described the moment as a proud one for himself and his family.
“It’s a really proud moment for me and my family. I’m just grateful and blessed to achieve something big like that.”
Farkas making an early impression this season
The Hungarian-born midfielder has made three appearances for Liverpool this season, including an appearance from the bench in the UEFA Youth League draw with Atlético Madrid last week.
He has also made a productive start in front of goal, scoring twice in those three appearances.
Farkas has been developing within Liverpool’s Academy for several years, having joined the club at U12 level.
International experience
Although born in Hungary, Farkas represents England at international level and has already been capped by the country at U17 level.
His international experience adds another part to his development as he continues to gain exposure at a higher level of youth football.
A notable week for the Farkas family
Erik's contract announcement comes only a few days after his older brother Patrik Farkas also signed a professional contract with Liverpool.
The 19-year-old midfielder returned to the club after spending the previous four years with Blackburn Rovers. Liverpool confirmed his return on September 15, with Patrik subsequently joining the club's U21 setup.
The two brothers are therefore now both under professional terms at Liverpool, although they remain at different stages of their development.
For Erik, the immediate focus will be on continuing his progress with the U18s and building on his encouraging start to the 2026–27 campaign.
His first professional contract represents a significant milestone, but the next stage will be about maintaining his development and earning further opportunities within the Reds' younger team.
