Liverpool defender Jeremy Jacquet made his senior France debut during their 1-0 UEFA Nations League victory over Belgium in Brussels.
The 21-year-old was named in Zinedine Zidane’s starting XI alongside Liverpool teammate Bradley Barcola and completed the full match as France secured a clean sheet.
The appearance marked Jacquet’s first senior international cap after earning his maiden France call-up during the current international period.
The Liverpool centre-back was part of a much-changed France side as Zidane rotated his squad during a busy Nations League schedule.
Speaking after the game, Jacquet remained measured about his position in the France squad and indicated that he still has room for improvement.
He said: "It’s sure that being a defender, a clean sheet, there is nothing better. With the victory at the end. I can only be happy. But to say that I am satisfied, no. I think back to 2-3 offensive balls, I can do better once I recover. But overall I’m happy, we leave with the 3 points and the clean-sheet."
On whether he gets a regular place in Zinedine Zidane’s starting lineup after his debut, Jacquet responded: “Establishing myself? I’m not thinking about that yet, I’m not going to get into that."
