Liverpool Transfer Interest In Yankuba Minteh Remains A Talking Point
Liverpool's interest in Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh remains a subject of transfer discussion following the failed attempt to sign the Gambia international during the summer window.
Liverpool made approaches for Minteh during the transfer window, with Brighton rejecting offers for the winger. It is understood that the Reds had bids of £50 million and £60 million turned down, while Brighton were to be seeking a higher fee.
More recent reports have suggested that Minteh remains open to a future move to Anfield.
The Gambia international forward has now broken silence over the speculation. Minteh was asked about the failed move while discussing his current situation during the international break.
The 22-year-old was reluctant to discuss the transfer speculation, making it clear that his focus remains on Brighton.
“I am focused. I am in Brighton, that is the team I am playing for. That is my team and I don’t want to talk much about transfers. What God has decided for me, I am happy with it,” Minteh said.
"I am really, really eager to come back and help my team because they are doing good at the moment, but if I come back, I will do my best to help them,” he added.
When asked about his expected return, Minteh simply replied: “Very soon, very soon.”
Minteh has been sidelined with an injury since the beginning of the season, meaning he has yet to feature for Brighton during the current campaign.
Liverpool’s interest in the player was one of the notable transfer stories of the summer, with the club looking to strengthen its attacking options following Mohamed Salah’s departure.
While the left-footed winger has not indicated that he is actively pushing for a move to Anfield, his comments confirm that he is aware of the speculation and has chosen to keep his focus on the Seagulls.
