Liverpool Continue to Monitor Lamine Camara After Chelsea Deal Collapsed on Transfer Deadline

Liverpool are continuing to monitor Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara following the collapse of his proposed move to Chelsea, with the Reds reportedly considering a future move for the Senegal international.

Camara was on the verge of joining Chelsea during the final stages of the summer transfer window. The Premier League club had reportedly agreed a deal worth around £47 million for the midfielder and were preparing to complete the transfer after Enzo Fernández's move to Manchester City created a need for another central midfielder.

However, Monaco pulled the plug on the agreement after the French club's plans changed on deadline day. Monaco had been attempting to sell Folarin Balogun to Everton and, with that transfer initially appearing likely to go through, the club decided to prioritise Balogun's departure rather than allow both players to leave. Balogun's move subsequently collapsed leaving Camara at Monaco.

The situation has since opened the possibility for Liverpool to revisit their interest in the 22-year-old. Reports from the deadline-day period claimed that the Reds made contact with both Monaco and Camara's representatives after Chelsea's agreement began to fall apart.

According to reporting from Ben Jacobs, Liverpool’s interest was effectively for Camara to remain patient, with the club potentially prepared to revisit the midfielder in a future transfer window rather than make an immediate move, as the summer transfer window was nearing its close.

Now, Liverpool's interest has received further attention following the midfielder's performance against Paris Saint-Germain. The midfielder started in Monaco's 2-1 victory at the Parc des Princes, and reports published over the weekend claimed Liverpool scouts were present to watch him.

Monaco's sporting director Thiago Scuro also indicated that Camara could have significant transfer opportunities ahead of him. Following the collapse of the Chelsea deal, Scuro said he had spoken with the player and reassured him that he would have another major opportunity to move. Scuro also suggested that Camara could have options that were potentially better than those available to him on deadline day.
