Injured Mo Salah in doubt for Carabao Cup tie with Arsenal

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Mohamed Salah may need time to recover from an ankle injury sustained earlier this month

Salah could be left out of Wednesday Carabao Cup final against Arsenal due to fear of a reoccurring ankle problem.

The Egyptian forward featured in the Liverpool's 2-1 win over Totteham on Sunday and scored a 75min winner from a spot kick.

But Klopp opted to replace him five minute to the end of the match after receiving treatment on his left ankle which the Egyptian injured against Leicester City earlier this month.

Speaking after the home victory Klopp said about Mohamed Salah's recovery: "It's the ankle, the ankle he has struggled with since the Leicester game," said the Reds boss.

"It's good but the longer the game goes the muscles get a bit tired, stuff like this, (and) if you get a knock on it then you feel it more.

"It makes no sense to try to push it through because we had other players, still options to change, and that's what we did. No, nothing serious."

The Reds now maintain their six points lead of Manchester City at top spot after falling to three points clear prior to the Sunday fixtures.
