Match Report: Reds 7 - 2 demolition by Aston Villa - No excuses

Liverpool had the best side to lose terribly to Villa

Lfc rumour

The Reds came to their first Premier League defeat on Sunday night in an embarrassing way.

Travelling to the Birmingham club as favourite was prestigious for  the champs who went 27 games unbeaten on the way to the title last season.

But, eventually, the giants had to struggle to a nearly relegated side that watched them excel last season.

Unbelievable??  It took just four minutes for Villa to hit one into the champions' net as goalkeeper Adrian's mistakenly gifted Ollie Watkins the opener.

Liverpool were without Sadio Mane and Thiago Alcantara who currently are faced with Covid-19.

That doesn't make tolerable excuses??? no way, ??? they were sagging at the back??? Watkins then fired his second soon after, cutting inside Joe Gomez and finding the top corner with a superb finish.

Mo Salah helped to ease the tempo but the home team advantage was immediately restored as John McGinn's deflected volley found a way in, before Watkins headed in for his hat-trick.

Ross Barkley then made it five as his effort cannoned off a Reds player and over Adrian, before Grealish added two more, with Salah's strike in between nothing more than a consolation.

Bet you never saw how accurate we predicted this  encounter? Check out.
