Jordan Henderson hands Liverpool a major injury boost as four set to miss Brighton

Jurgen Klopp has been handed an injury boost by skipper Jordan Henderson but four Liverpool midfielders set to miss game

Jordan Henderson has handed Liverpool a major selection boost ahead of the weekend trip to Brighton by returning to full training.

Henderson sat out the Premier League win over Leicester City on Sunday and Wednesday's Champions League loss to Atalanta as he recovered from the hamstring problem suffered while playing for England in Belgium earlier this month.

However, the skipper was pictured training with his team-mates at Kirkby on Thursday afternoon as the Reds ramped up their preparations for the early kick-off at Brighton on Saturday.

Henderson being back in contention is timely for Jurgen Klopp as the Reds boss grapples with an ongoing injury crisis.

Midfielders Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Thiago Alcantara are all expected to remain absent for the visit to the South Coast.

Liverpool's 3-1 win at Brighton in July was marred by Henderson suffering the knee injury that forced him to miss the final four games of last season and leave him racing to be available for the start of this campaign.

The 30-year-old also missed three games earlier this term having been replaced at half-time of the 2-0 win at Chelsea in September due to a thigh complaint.

Liverpool will be without long-term injury victims Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez on Saturday with Trent Alexander-Arnold unlikely to feature as he recovers from a calf problem.

The Reds take on Brighton in a 12.30pm kick off on Saturday afternoon.

Next up after that is Ajax at home in the Champions League on Tuesday evening at 8pm.
