Liverpool striker set for exit as second bid accepted

Liverpool forward Liam Millar is expected to join 20-time Swiss Champions FC Basel this summer

It is understood the Canadian international forward is close to agreeing personal terms after a second seven-figure bid was accepted by Liverpool on Friday.

Millar, 21, made 27 appearances for Charlton Athletic on-loan in League One last term and was attracting interest from the Championship but Basel can offer Europa Conference League football.

Liverpool rejected an opening bid for Millar at the start of the week but Basel eventually met the asking price and are close to confirming a deal.

The forward made his Liverpool debut in February of last year in the FA Cup replay win over Shrewsbury Town, originally joining the club from Fulham as a 17-year-old in 2016.

Millar has two years remaining on his current Liverpool contract.
