Covid-19: Steven Gerrard out of Rangers' Europa League travelling team

Steven Gerrard will reportedly miss Rangers’ trip to Armenia for the second leg of their Europa League play-off against Alashkert


According to a report by the Record , Gerrard failed to show at Glasgow Airport for the Light Blues lunchtime flight to Western Asia for their crunch clash.

The report also claims that James Tavernier, Calvin Bassey, Scott Wright and Ryan Kent were also absent along with Allan McGregor and Jon McLaughlin, and that Gary McAllister is set to take the team tomorrow night.

Ranger confirmed in a club statement released on Thursday morning that the club had recieved a number of positive COVID-19 tests in its latest round of testing.

The statement read: "RANGERS can confirm that during our testing schedule, we have received positive COVID-19 tests. "Those identified as positive are now in self isolation along with ‘close contacts'.

"We have followed best practice in our procedures and protocols. From the outset of the pandemic, Rangers has worked closely with the Scottish Government and Scottish football to ensure the health of our staff is protected at all times. We will continue to do so."
