Liverpool must pay £100k because of starting XI

Liverpool will have to fork out £100,000 because of Jurgen Klopp's starting XI vs Norwich

Jurgen Klopp has handed a senior Liverpool debut to 16-year-old Kaide Gordon, who joined from Derby County in February 2021 for an initial £1m fee, rising to a potential £3m, depending on various bonuses.

And reports this week have suggested his inclusion in the side means Derby are due a £100k payment.

Although still a teenager, making his debut for Liverpool won’t be Gordon’s first taste of senior football, having made his first-team bow for the Rams in December 2020.

According to the Telegraph Gordon has earned his former club a 100k windfall after his Wednesday's Liverpool debut in the Carabao Cup.

Jurgen Klopp named a much-changed team for his side's trip to Carrow Road, debutants Conor Bradley and Gordon being in the starting line-up.

Having been a breakout star of Liverpool's pre-season campaign, Gordon placed himself on the periphery of the first team picture on Wednesday night, despite only making his U23's debut earlier this season.
