Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool target Victor Osimhen only willing to join two clubs, claims Napoli hero

Victor Osimhen has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe (Picture: Getty) Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool target Victor Osimhen is only willing to join one of two clubs this summer, according to former Napoli midfielder Salvatore Bagni. Osimhen has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe following a sensational season in which he scored 31 goals in 39 games. The Nigerian’s performances helped Napoli win their first Serie A title in 33 years and reach the knockout stages of the Champions League. Manchester United are expected to sign a new striker this summer after releasing Cristiano Ronaldo at the end of last year and relying on Burnley loanee Wout Weghorst for much of the 2022-23 campaign. Chelsea will also spend big on a goalscorer for new manager Mauricio Pochettino as they prepare to sell Romelu Lukaku and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang following miserable spells at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Osimhen but the 24-year-old would only be interested in a summer move to two clubs, according to Bagni. ‘Victor Osimhen won’t return to France because he already played there,’ ex-Italy midfielder Bagni, who won the Scudetto-Coppa Italia double with Napoli, said. ‘The same thing with Germany. Osimhen starred in Napoli’s Serie A title win last season (Picture: Getty) ‘He doesn’t go to Liverpool or Chelsea because they do not play the Champions League. ‘Of all the teams associated with him, for me, he would only go to Manchester United and Real Madrid. He’s not interested in the other teams.’ Napoli have insisted they plan to keep hold of Osimhen this summer but the club’s president has offered hope to clubs hoping to secure his signature. ‘We already talked to Osimhen before the Scudetto celebration, so we already have a basic agreement on a two-year extension of his contract,’ Aurelio de Laurentiis said earlier in the month. More: Trending Manchester United target Kim Min-Jae accepts Bayern Munich offer but deal not sealed Brighton set Manchester United & Chelsea NEW asking price for Moises Caicedo Aston Villa reach agreement to sign ex-Man Utd target in £30m deal ‘I have said for a while that Osimhen has to stay. Then, if an offer came in that I could not refuse for the good of Napoli, then we would consider it, as is only natural.’ Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has highlighted the ‘only risk’ facing Premier League clubs if they sign Osimhen this summer. ‘We need to get a No. 9 in the building,’ he said on his YouTube channel. ‘There are two names that keep coming up – Osimhen and Kane. ‘Ultimately, it is down to Kane and (Tottenham chairman) Daniel Levy. If they both say yes and want to make it happen, I think United will get it done. The numbers can’t be ridiculous. ‘They can get blood, sweat, tears, goals and records out of Kane. Let the guy do what he needs to do now, man. Let the guy compete for titles and trophies They’re closer than where Spurs are, that’s the point. The Nigerian has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe (Picture: Getty) ‘Osimhen is a different kettle of fish. He’s 24-years-old, scored goals in France and Italy. Won the league and knows how to win leagues. ‘He’s been a No. 9 at a dominant team. Is that transferable to the Premier League? No-one knows that. That’s the chance United would have to take on him. ‘That’s the only risk I see. He doesn’t know the league. Ability-wise and profile, he ticks every box, but there is an unknown factor. Can he adapt? ‘I’d take either of those two and I’d be happy but Kane guarantees you 25 goals a season, there’s no doubt he would get that.’ Rio Ferdinand reveals the ‘only way’ David de Gea will stay at Man Utd Chelsea star Reece James responds to fan asking him to join Arsenal For more stories like this, check our sport page. Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle United in battle to sign £40m-rated Goncalo Inacio from Sporting

Inacio wlll only be allowed to leave if his release clause is met in full (Picture: Getty) Sporting Lisbon star Goncalo Inacio is expected to leave the club this summer with Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle United fighting for his signature. The 21-year-old, regarded as one of the most promising young centre-halves in European football, has a release clause of €45million (£40m) and while Sporting are eager to tie him down to a new contract, a summer move is on the cards, according to AS. Three Premier League clubs are thought to be at the top of the queue for his services with Liverpool eager to follow up on initial interest shown last summer. The report suggests he is viewed as an ideal defensive partner for Virgil van Dijk at the back. Arsenal are also credited with serious interest. The Gunners are close to signing Jurrien Timber from Ajax but Mikel Arteta is reportedly planning to use the Dutchman as an inverted right-back, rather than at centre-half where he has shone for Ajax. With William Saliba’s absence causing problems at the back during last season’s run-in, another option at centre-half could be on option being considered at the Emirates. The defender shone against Arsenal in the Europa League (Picture: Getty) Newcastle are also keen on the Sporting star. The Magpies are keen to bring in another option at the back ahead of their return to the Champions League with Inacio on their list of options. Any club wishing to price Inacio from Sporting will have to pay his entire release clause up front. Ex-England goalkeeper David James says Liverpool should have signed departing Chelsea star Mateo Kovacic

David James believes Liverpool should have made a move (Picture: Sky Sports) Former England goalkeeper David James believes Liverpool should have signed departing Chelsea star Mateo Kovacic ahead of Manchester City. Kovacic is set to join the Premier League champions in a deal worth £30m, but James reckons he would be ‘more suited’ to Liverpool. Since joining Chelsea in 2018, Kovacic has made more than 200 appearances for the Blues and helped the club win the Champions League and Europa League. ‘Someone who plays like Mateo Kovacic does, I would have thought would be more suited to Liverpool than Manchester City,’ James told King Casino Bonus. ‘I’ve been buzzing off this guy for a few years now; the way he picks the ball up and goes through lines with ease, it looks like he is always at 100mph. There is something magical about the way he plays. ‘There is a lot of speed, energy and pace in the way Liverpool have played ever since Jurgen Klopp took over and someone like Kovacic would be ideal for that. ‘The way that Man City play is typically a lot slower and less reliant on running with the ball, just look at Kevin de Bruyne’s passing stats. Mateo Kovacic is set to join Manchester City (Picture: Getty) ‘Pep Guardiola might be thinking of having a tactical re-think again, Kovacic isn’t the type of player I thought Man City would be going after. ‘Then again, neither was Erling Haaland and that worked out alright! I think if a player like Kovacic went for Liverpool however, I think that would be a great fit.’ Croatia midfielder Kovacic will cost Manchester City an initial fee of £25m, with £5m in potential add-ons. Arsenal have already held discussions to sign Lavia this summer but Mikel Arteta’s side are prioritising deals for Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber. According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool also have Lavia on their summer shortlist and have now begun talks over a potential deal for the midfielder. Jurrien Timber has also been linked to Man Utd and Liverpool this summer (Picture: Getty) Arsenal have launched a £30m opening offer to sign Ajax defender Jurrien Timber, according to reports. Arsenal join Chelsea and Liverpool in race for £50m Championship star

Mikel Arteta’s side are in a three-way battle to sign the Belgium international (Picture: Getty) Arsenal have joined Chelsea and Liverpool in the race to sign £50m Southampton star Romeo Lavia, according to reports. The 19-year-old only signed for Southampton last summer from Manchester City, penning a five-year contract – but after their relegation from the Premier League to the Championship – it looks set to be a swift exit from St Mary’s. Chelsea have already opened negotiations with Southampton over a deal while Liverpool are plotting a bid for Lavia and have been in contact with the defensive midfielder’s representatives. But it is now reported that Arsenal have also held talks with Lavia and have an ‘excellent relationship’ with his camp, with the Gunners thought to have ‘concrete and strong interest’ in bringing him to the Emirates. The north Londoners are having somewhat of a midfield revamp and are ready to cash in on Thomas Partey this summer with him and Granit Xhaka both set to leave the club in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Manchester United are believed to admire Lavia but are not advancing their interest while City’s buy-back clause is only valid until 2024. More: Trending Man City submit £77m bid to sign key target after failed Chelsea move Chelsea star decides to stay this summer after getting Mauricio Pochettino backing Man City issue demand to Declan Rice after Arsenal's failed offers Lavia is one of Southampton’s most valuable assets so they want to make sure they maximise their profit when he inevitably leaves and they are thought to be demanding as much as £50m for him. The likes of James Ward-Prowse, Kyle Walker-Peters and Tino Livramento are all likely to attract bids from Premier League clubs too after Southampton were relegated, but the Saints are pushing for big prices. Ibrahima Konate ‘hopes’ Liverpool sign Khephren Thuram this summer

Ibrahima Konate is hopeful over Liverpool’s push to sign Khephren Thuram (Telefoot) Ibrahima Konate says he hopes Liverpool can complete a deal to signKhephren Thuram this summer. Jurgen Klopp’s side have already begun their summer business by signing Alexis Mac Allister in a £35 million deal from Brighton last week. Klopp is keen to bolster his midfield options even further and Liverpool are currently in talks over a deal for Thuram, who is the son of the France’s World Cup winner Lilian Thuram and the younger brother of Marcus Thuram. And Konate has made is clear that he would be keen to see the 22-year-old central midfielder head to Anfield this summer. In a quickfire ‘yes or no’ interview with Telefoot, Konate was asked if Thuram will be playing for Liverpool next season, to which the defender replied: ‘Yes, I hope so.’ Liverpool have held talks to sign Khephren Thuram from Nice (Getty) Speaking to RMC Sport earlier this week, Konate described Thuram’s progression as ‘incredible’ and says he was surprised by the midfielder’s technical ability. ‘I would be very happy for him [Thuram] to come to Liverpool and I would take him under my wing and I would do everything for him to progress and become the player he wants to become,’ Konate said. Liverpool and Chelsea target Federico Valverde dismisses chance of Real Madrid exit

Federico Valverde has no plans to leave Real Madrid (Picture: Getty Images) Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde insists there is no chance he is leaving the club this summer, despite interest from the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea. The 24-year-old was a big player for Los Blancos over the last season, making 56 appearances across all competitions and scoring 12 goals. There is already a lot of competition for places in the Real Madrid midfield with Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni all there already and Jude Bellingham now arriving in a big-money move from Borussia Dortmund. There has been speculation that the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea are keen to take advantage of the situation and could make moves for the Uruguay international, while Manchester United have also been linked with Valverde in the past. However, he is certainly not pushing for an exit, wanting to stay where he is and win more silverware with the club. ‘No, no – I’m at Madrid, trying to enjoy every moment and leave my mark on the best club in the world,’ Valverde told ESPN Argentina when asked about a possible move. ‘I want to keep winning titles for Real Madrid fans.’ New signing Bellingham has echoed Valverde’s desire for trophies, telling a press conference as he was presented as a Real Madrid player: ‘A club like Madrid and its fans and the people who work for the club deserve to have trophies every year. This year they didn’t manage to get La Liga and the Champions League. ‘That is the standard I want to help the club reach, where they can compete for these honours very closely every year. ‘Manchester City had a great season, but it just gives us more fire to go for it next year.’ Jason Cundy highlights ‘concern’ over Arsenal transfer target Kai Havertz and compares Chelsea star to Mesut Ozil Man Utd, Chelsea and Tottenham target David Raya speaks out on future For more stories like this, check our sport page. Jude Bellingham explains decision to reject Liverpool and Man City for Real Madrid

Jude Bellingham claims Real Madrid are the greatest club in the world (Getty) Jude Bellingham insists he could not refuse the chance to join Real Madrid this summer and admits their win against Liverpool in last year’s Champions League final was a ‘big factor’ behind his decision to move to the Spanish club. The 19-year-old has now completed his move to Madrid with the Spanish side agreeing a €133.9 million (£114.5m) deal with Borussia Dortmund. Madrid fended off strong competition from Manchester City and Liverpool, who had both pushed hard to sign the England international this summer. But Bellingham is adamant that Madrid was his preferred destination once they registered their interest. ‘For a start, money is not a thing for me,’ Bellingham said at his unveiling in Madrid on Thursday. ‘I don’t think about money at all when I make these kind of decisions, I never have and I never will, I play the game purely out of love. Real Madrid have handed the No.5 shirt to Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid) ‘I spoke with the people when I got permission from Borussia Dortmund, I spoke with Juni [Calafat, Madrid’s chief scout], I spoke with Jose Angel [Sanchez, Madrid’s CEO], and I love the feeling I got from the club, I couldn’t hide it. ‘I told them more or less straight away what I felt about the club, after I made my decision I wanted it to all happen quickly. ‘It wasn’t the case of the other teams are bad, or they weren’t good, it’s just that, for me, Madrid is the greatest.’ Real Madrid agreed a €133.9m (£114.5m) deal with Borussia Dortmund for Jude Bellingham (Getty) Bellingham also revealed that a secret meeting with Madrid’s recruitment team was the moment he knew he was heading for La Liga. ‘I think the exact moment is hard to say, I had the meeting where they came to my house and I was sold, to be honest, but I can’t remember when that was,’ Bellingham said. ‘That was the moment when, for me, it was definite. ‘Like I said, you’re always in admiration of the club. Watching them win the Champions League, I was at the final when they beat Liverpool, that was another huge factor, but there are a load of things really that go into making the decision to join this club.’ More: Trending Moises Caicedo chooses his next club with 'final negotiations' underway Erik ten Hag asks Manchester United board to submit £52m bid Javier Mascherano believes Erik ten Hag has future superstar at Man Utd Bellingham also said he was eager to be out of his comfort zone, which is why he turned down the chance to play in the Premier League. ‘Of course, at the World Cup and at the national team camps it’s hard, all of them are wanting me to come back to England and play for their teams, which I really appreciate,’ Bellingham said. ‘But I like the idea of this being out of my comfort zone, if you like. Maybe it would be an easier option to go back to England, my native country, and live there and play in the Premier League. But I couldn’t turn down Real Madrid, really. The club is so big, it just felt like the right move for me. ‘Like I said before, it wasn’t because the other clubs were bad, it was because Real Madrid is where I want to be.’ For more stories like this, check our sport page. Liverpool to send Calvin Ramsay on season-long loan to Preston

Calvin Ramsay only made two first team appearances in his first season with Liverpool (Picture: Getty Images) Liverpool defender Calvin Ramsay is set to join Preston North End on loan for the 2023/24 season. The 19-year-old moved to Anfield from Aberdeen last summer for a fee of £4.2m after winning the SFWA Young Player of the Year in 2022 for his impressive performances north of the border. Injuries have not helped his progress since moving to Liverpool and he has only made two first team appearances under Jurgen Klopp, one in the Champions League and another in the League Cup. The Scot is yet to get on the pitch in the Premier League and only made it onto the substitutes’ bench once in the top flight. To speed up his development, Ramsay is heading out on loan, with The Athletic reporting that he will join Championship side Preston for the upcoming campaign. Preston finished 12th in the second-tier this season under Ryan Lowe, bringing in the likes of Troy Parrott, Alvaro Fernandez, Tom Cannon and Liam Delap on loan from Premier League sides. Ramsay’s injuries have been a concern for Liverpool so far, with a back problem diagnosed shortly after his arrival and knee surgery in February. Jurgen Klopp sympathised with the Scot when he was ruled out for the rest of the season in February, but hoped that the worst was then behind him. ‘We cannot play catch-up all the time with him because he is a great talent, a real talent, who had the most unlucky start possible,’ said the Reds boss. ‘But in the end when he finishes his career at 36 or 37 or whatever, if he can say then, ‘The most difficult year of my career was the first’, or the second in his case maybe, that’s absolutely OK because all the others were better and we did the right things in the first two. Jamie Carragher shares only concern over new Liverpool signing Alexis Mac Allister

Alexis Mac Allister has signed for Liverpool from Brighton (Photo: Getty) Jamie Carragher has hailed the signing of Alexis Mac Allister – but has one concern over the new Liverpool midfielder. On Thursday, Liverpool confirmed the arrival of Mac Allister from Brighton for a bargain £35million. The World Cup winner was one of the Seagulls’ best players in 2022/23 as they qualified for Europe for the first time in their history and finished just a handful of points behind the Reds in the Premier League. Signing at least one new midfielder was a priority for Jurgen Klopp this summer, with James Milner, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and Naby Keita departing Anfield at the end of their contracts. The Argentine international is very highly-rated and was linked with various different clubs so it is real coup that Liverpool have bought him for a comparatively low fee and so early into the transfer window. ‘Well he’s certainly a good player, whether he’s a good signing we’ll see when the season starts,’ Liverpool legend Carragher told Sky Sports on Saturday. ‘It looks like he can play every position in midfield – which will help Liverpool. He looks a super talent. Liverpool will be hoping Mac Allister doesn’t flop like former Brighton teammate Marc Cucurella has at Chelsea (Photo: Getty) ‘Brighton are a brilliant team. The only thing I will say is, a lot of players who have come out of Brighton, haven’t replicated the Brighton form in other teams. Is that because they’re part of a special system at Brighton? ‘That will be interesting to see. But no, I think it’s a great signing considering the price as well. £35million is a steal for a World Cup winner – someone who has Premier League experience and he’s only 24.’ Carragher’s concern is well-founded, as several notable ex-Brighton stars have failed to live up to expectations after leaving the Amex for big money. More: Trending Christopher Nkunku coy on Chelsea transfer as Wesley Fofana urges him to join Ten Hag happy to let Man Utd midfielder leave with Newcastle interested Erik ten Hag blocks summer move for Man Utd star and views him as 'untouchable' Marc Cucurella, Yves Bissouma and Neal Maupay all left last summer – for Chelsea, Tottenham and Everton respectively – and all could be considered the worst signing of the season. But the Seagulls have produced several other great talents who have gone onto thrive elsewhere in the Premier League, namely Arsenal duo Ben White and Leandro Trossard as well as Newcastle defender Dan Burn. Mac Allister may not be the only Brighton star on the move this summer, with Moises Caicedo still garnering much interest from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea. Liverpool confirm Alexis Mac Allister arrival in bargain £35million deal from Brighton

The World Cup winner’s arrival kick-starts a massive summer rebuild (Picture: Getty) Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister for a fee believed to be in the region of just £35million. The Argentina international, who will wear the No.10, was pictured at the Merseyside club’s AXA training ground on Tuesday evening to complete a medical before putting pen to paper on a long-term contract. Mac Allister enjoyed an excellent campaign for both club and country, playing an integral role in his nation’s World Cup win as well as netting 10 times in the Premier League. A contract extension he signed shortly before jetting out to Qatar included a release clause that Liverpool have now triggered, which is thought to be around the £35m mark – a bargain in today’s market. All parties wanted the deal wrapped up before the 24-year-old jets out to Beijing next week for Argentina’s friendly against Australia, before then playing against Indonesia in Jakarta. Speaking about the move after it was confirmed on Thursday, Mac Allister told the club’s official website: ‘It feels amazing. It’s a dream come true, it’s amazing to be here and I can’t wait to get started. ‘I wanted to be in [from] the first day of pre-season, so it’s good that everything is done. I’m looking forward to meeting my team-mates. Mac Allister was part of Argentina’s World Cup-winning team (Picture: Getty) The No.10 shirt was last worn by Sadio Mane (Picture: Getty) ‘It was a fantastic year for me – World Cup, what we achieved with Brighton – but now it’s time to think about Liverpool and try to be a better player and a better human being every day.’ He added: ‘Since I won the World Cup, I said that I want to win more trophies and I think that this club will help me to do that – that’s the aim and when you are in a big club like this one you have to win trophies. So, that’s what I want. ‘Since I arrived here, I can see how big this club is – the players we have, the staff, everyone. I’m really pleased and looking forward to playing for this club.’ Mac Allister’s arrival kick-starts a massive midfield rebuild for Jurgen Klopp, who has lost James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Brighton, meanwhile, have already moved quickly to replace Mac Allister, with both Milner and Dortmund midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud set to move to the south coast on free transfers. Alexis Mac Allister set to undergo Liverpool medical today ahead of cut-price transfer

Alexis Mac Allister is closing in on a move to Liverpool from Brighton (Picture: Getty) Alexis Mac Allister is set to undergo his Liverpool medical today ahead of his eagerly anticipated transfer from Brighton. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 24-year-old will complete the formalities of his move over the course of the next 24 hours and wants the deal sorted before he is due to join up with the Argentina international squad ahead of the upcoming games against Australia and Indonesia. Liverpool have beaten off competition from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea for the World Cup winner and for much less than had originally been reported. Speculation that Mac Allister’s release clause fee stood at £70million were wide of the mark and the Reds are set to pay between £45 and and £61m for one of the Premier League’s most accomplished midfield technicians. Following the departures of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, it was always Liverpool’s plan to conduct a major overhaul of their engine room this summer. Alexis Mac Allister wants his Liverpool move finalised before joining up with the Argentina national team (Picture: Getty) While experienced campaigners Jordan Henderson and Fabinho will remain integral to Jurgen Klopp’s plans, the need to supplement their experience with younger, more energetic players capable of carrying out Jurgen Klopp’s relentless pressing style became obvious during a difficult campaign for Liverpool.
