Last week, reports emerged claiming that Al-Ettifaq, managed by Reds legend Steven Gerrard, were planning on making an ambitious move for Henderson. Now, The Telegraph say that the 33-year-old is ‘weighing up’ whether to stay at Anfield where he has played sine 2011, or accept a lucrative offer to join his former teammate in the Middle East. A number of Premier League stars have already joined various Saudi Arabian sides this summer, including former Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino, while Thiago Alcantara is also tipped to transfer there. Though Henderson still has two years left on his contract, the temptation to leave stems from Jurgen Klopp’s expansive overhaul of his midfield which is set to look very different next season. James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all left, while Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have arrived, with Romeo Lavia still closely linked despite his high £50million price tag. Klopp is said to be keen on retaining Henderson due to his experience and leadership skills, especially in the light of Milner’s departure to Brighton.
