Liverpool have announced the signing of French striker Djylian N'Guessan from Saint-Etienne

Liverpool have officially confirmed an agreement to sign 18-year-old French forward Djylian N'Guessan from Ligue 2 side Saint-Etienne.

Transfer Details

The Reds secured the highly-rated teenager on a pre-contract agreement for a reported fee of €5 million (£4.3m).

N'Guessan signed a short-term contract extension with Saint-Etienne to remain registered in France for the first part of the season. He has immediately been sent on a straight loan to Ligue 1 side Stade Brestois for the 2026–27 campaign.

He will officially complete his permanent transfer to Liverpool in January 2027. At that time, Liverpool will decide whether to leave him at Brest to finish out the season or bring him directly to Anfield.

Who is Djylian N'Guessan?

N'Guessan is widely considered one of the brightest young attacking prospects in French football. Standing around 6 feet tall, he is a highly versatile and dynamic forward who can play centrally as a striker or operate comfortably on either wing.

He has caught the eye of top European scouts primarily due to his standout performances for France's youth national teams.

International Track Record: He scored 12 goals in 14 caps for the France U16s and 11 goals in 11 caps for the U17s. He was also named in the Team of the Tournament at the 2025 U17 European Championship, where France finished as runners-up.
