The Red Devils have been linked heavily with the 33-goal Benfica striker as much as Liverpool.
Now, journalist Pedro Almeida has claimed the Liverpool rivals have forked out £67m for the player.
It's unclear whether Benfica will accept United's offer but it appears the Manchester club are planning a shake up for the summer, especially with the appointment of Erik ten Hag already wrapped up.
Recent reports had it that Nunez would rather prefer a move to Liverpool if he wants a Premier League switch.
