Liverpool ask PGMOL for VAR audio from Luis Diaz disallowed goal

The Liverpool - VAR saga regarding Luis Diaz's disallowed goal continues

Luis Diaz goal disallowed by VAR

Liverpool's match against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday was marred by a controversial decision to disallow a goal by Colombia forward Luis Diaz. The incident occurred in the first half of the match when Diaz appeared to have scored a legitimate goal, only for it to be ruled out for offside by the VAR officials.

The PGMOL earlier rendered an apology regarding the incident, stating that the decision to disallow Diaz's goal was a "clear and obvious factual error and should have resulted in the goal being awarded through VAR".

The Reds's frustration with the decision has now led to a formal request to the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) for access to the audio recording of the interactions between the VAR officials and the on-field referee.

Liverpool's request for the audio comes after the club issued a statement on Sunday evening, highlighting their concerns about the incident.

The Merseyside club believes that the decision to disallow Diaz's goal has "undermined sporting integrity".

By requesting access to the VAR audio, the Anfield club hopes to establish how and why the decision was made, and whether there were any errors in the communication between the VAR officials and the on-field referee.

The potential implications of obtaining VAR audio in such cases could be significant, as it could shed light on the decision-making process and potentially lead to improvements in the implementation of the VAR technology.

The controversy surrounding the incident has also raised questions about the role of referees and the implementation of VAR technology in football.

BREAKING: Jurgen Klopp charged by FA after Red card

The German was shown a straight red card and sent to the stands after yelling at an official during the Reds' 1-0 victory against Manchester City

I was stated earlier that further action against Klopp is likely to be taken for his reaction reaction towards the linesman Gary Beswick that joined referee Anthony Taylor to officiate the game between Liverpool and Manchester City, which the Reds won 1-0.

Now, the Liverpool manager has been charged for misconduct.

Klopp was seen yelling in front of assistant referee Beswick.

An FA spokesperson said: "Jurgen Klopp has been charged with breaching FA Rule E3 following the Premier League game between Liverpool FC and Manchester City FC on Sunday [16/10/22].

"The alleged behaviour of the Liverpool manager in the 86th minute of this game was inappropriate and he has until Friday [21/10/22] to respond."

Klopp could still be available to face West Ham on Wednesday, the Liverpool manager confirmed his availability on his press conference today, however there's only a slim chance now following the FA's confirmation.
