Liverpool target best in Europe after Vinicius and Mbappe says Shakhtar chief

Liverpool are being linked with a move for Shakhtar Donetsk winger dubbed Ukrainian Neymar"

Mykhaylo Mudryk is Arsenal and Liverpool transfer target

Shakhtar Donetsk sporting director Darijo Srner claims Liverpool's transfer target Mihajlo Mudric is the best left winger in Europe, alongside Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr.

Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old as their scouts prepare to watch him when Shakhtar Donetsk face Real Madrid in the Champions League on October 5.

Mudrick has risen rapidly in the rankings, scoring just eight goals in 11 league games last season, but has impressed. Everton tried to beat the onslaught by making a £26m offer in the summer, but the Toffees were rejected by Miner, who believe they have a future star on their hands.

Brentford's attempt to sign Mudrick last season also failed, with the player personally thanking the Bees for the offer.

Chelsea owners contact Jude Bellingham's agent

The England international midfielder is being sought after by a number of elite European clubs, including Liverpool. He has been mostly touted with a move to Anfield.

Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United have all been linked with moves.

But now, according to the Mirror new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has contacted the midfielder's agent to convince him to join the London Blues.

Boehly is currently in charge of Chelsea's transfer business. He is said to believe they still have enough time to lure Bellingham to London and is not concerned about the manpower that Real Madrid and Liverpool have already invested in transfers.

Bellingham, 19, is considered one of the best young players in Europe after an overwhelming start to his career. The midfielder recently played his 100th game for Borussia Dortmund, excelling in the Bundesliga and Champions League and winning the DFB-Pokal.

Wild and mixed reactions as Agbonlahor urges Trent Alexander-Arnold to retire from national team

Trent Alexander-Arnold face with the dilemma to be omitted from Gary Southgate's World Cup squad

If Trent Alexander-Arnold is not in the World Cup squad, he should retire from England, according to Agbonlahor.

The Liverpool right-back was again not used by Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate in his latest international break fixture, suggesting he is likely to miss the final set of 26 for next month's World Cup tournament.

Agbonlahor told Talksport it would make no sense for Alexander-Arnold to continue his country's call-up under Southgate, before taking his statement about Newcastle right-back Kieran Trippier to better all-around Competition as an "insult".

He said: "If I were Trent, I would retire from international duty if I don't get in a World Cup squad. I'd retire until a new manager took charge of England and gave me the opportunity. 100 per cent.

"Because what's the point going away in these international breaks (without playing)? You could stay with your club, rest and prepare yourself for Liverpool. And for Southgate to come out and say Trippier is all-round better than Trent....

"I think that's an insult. I do like Trippier but Trent is an all-round better player than Kieran Trippier. (Kyle) Walker and (Reece) James, for me, are better than Trent but don't say Trippier, come on. Joke's over Gareth.

"It wouldn't surprise me if he did retire. We've seen players in the past retire from England (duty) because they weren't getting the opportunities."

Phil Neville reacted to Gabriel  Agbonlahor's suggestion, tagging it "ridiculous".

Phil wrote on Twitter: "Ridiculous comment"

One fan responded: "Typically I would agree but in this instance he’s right. Southgate hasn’t followed his own logic of not picking players when out of form."

Another said: "In that case he wouldn’t get picked anyways, my grandkids can defend better"

Declan Rice heaps praise on midfielder tipped for Liverpool move

Dortmund still pursuing Naby Keita transfer

Dortmund are very interested in signing Naby Keita, according to a report

Naby Keita still the subject of a transfer to Borussia Dortmund

The 27-year-old's future at Liverpool remains uncertain with his contract due to expire next summer and there has been no major progress in signing a new contract that would prevent a free transfer next summer.

Keita has not played for the Reds since the Community Shield final as the midfielder was sidelined with illness and injury.
There is growing speculation that the Guinea international is frustrated by the lack of consistent opportunities under Klopp.

Dortmund will closely monitor developments at Liverpool and be ready to act quickly when the opportunity arises, the report said. Former club RB Leipzig is also interested.

Liverpool could hots up pursuit for Joao Gomes amid Real Madrid's interest

The Reds have been closely linked with the Flamengo midfielder Gomes since the end of the summer window, but now face competition from Real Madrid, who see the Brazilian as Casemiro's natural successor.

Having been beaten by the Los Blancos to  the signature of Aurelian Chuameni in the summer, Liverpool could move quickly in January to avoid a repeat of their mistakes. The 21-year-old signed a new contract with Flamengo earlier this month, with the Brazilian club reluctant to negotiate a release clause below €60m (£54.3m).

Spanish publication Sport says the Reds could possibly trigger the player's £53.4m release clause in January.

Merson puts Liverpool star second to De Bruyne in midfield ranking

Paul Merson has ranked his top five midfielders in the Premier League, with one Liverpool star included

Paul Merson

The former Arsenal star-turned-Sky Sports pundit has listed his top five midfielders currently featured in the Premier League on his latest column. After choosing Manchester City's De Bruyne as his first choice, former England international Merson added Spain international Thiago as his second choice.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich star joined Jurgen Klopp's team in September 2020 and has developed into one of the key players in the Reds' starting XI after a slow start with injuries.

Merson wrote on his column: “Thiago Alcantara is an unbelievable footballer, he’s a class act. When he doesn’t play, Liverpool are a completely and utterly different team and we’ve seen that a handful of times already this season. When he first joined, there was a lot of talk that he slowed Liverpool down a little, but after he adapted to the pace of the Premier League, there’s been no stopping him!
“I just like the way he plays and moves – he’s always looking forward and is more than comfortable with playing one-touch football when the situation calls for it. I like players who see things on the football pitch before they happen and he’s one of them, which is why I’m such a big fan of him.

“People might be a bit surprised with Thiago’s inclusion at #2, but this is how I see the game and I genuinely believe that this guy is a special player. We’re talking about a world-class player who makes such a huge difference to a team like Liverpool – we saw it first-hand against Ajax when he started the game and absolutely ran the show for his team. These lists are obviously very subjective and could change every week, but Thiago is a player I’ve always rated over the years.”

Members of an independent panel investigating the chaos surrounding the Champions League final in May will travel to Liverpool to meet fans and club officials.

Liverpool have submitted 8,500 of 9,000 fan reports, photos and videos to the panel as the investigation into congestion and safety issues outside the Stade de France continues.

A July Senate report found "several organizational errors" related to the event, which was moved to Paris after St. Petersburg was omitted to host the final due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

"It's important that lessons can be learned to avoid a repeat or the mistakes of Paris," Liverpool chief executive Billy Hogan said, confirming that a delegation from the agency would travel to Merseyside.

“It’ll be a great opportunity, frankly, for us to sit down with them and for them to hear directly from us in terms of our experience pre, during and post-match.

“We’ve discussed with the panel and certainly encouraged them but I should say they were absolutely willing and wanted to meet with supporters and supporter groups.

“We certainly welcome that. I think it’s incredibly important that they hear from those who were impacted (by) the access, egress and entire experience across what happened in Paris.”

Thousands share testimonials on reaction to chaos in Champions League final

Thousands of Liverpool fans attending the Champions League final have sent their testimonials to UEFA

Liverpool Football Club has handed over thousands of references to an independent body after fans shared their shocking experience in the Champions League final in Paris.

After the Reds faced Real Madrid in the biggest game of club football in Europe, a report by the French Senate found that "several organisational errors" led to the "fiasco" of the Stade de France, and it was followed by an independent investigation.

A dossier of testimonials (including written reports, photos and videos) from over 8,500 fans has now been submitted to UEFA's independent panel for review.

Following the defeat in the final, Liverpool FC invited fans to share their experience of the

event to help gather evidence, which was then forwarded to UEFA. More than 9,000 participants submitted their own personal accounts, with more than 8,500 allowing the club to use the information they submitted as part of the survey.

Liverpool chief executive Billy Hogan thanked contributing supporters for their efforts. In a statement on the club's official website, Hogan said: "I’d like to thank all our supporters who took time to write to us after Paris to tell us their first-hand experiences from that day and night. Having read and analysed the testimonials, we know that our supporters suffered harrowing experiences that nobody should have to face going to a football match or any other events. We have analysed the testimonials to pick out recurring themes from the submissions.

"The purpose of providing an executive summary and the testimonials themselves is to help the independent panel understand that human beings were caught up in the chaos on May 28 and the experience of that day and night will live with them forever. We want the independent panel to understand that behind the report and analysis there are real stories of real people who were subjected to some appalling and totally avoidable experiences."

After reviewing all submissions, the club has identified eight key issues that have contributed to the worrying situation on matchday. They include:

  • Access point congestion
  • Insufficient travel information for supporters
  • Problems in the outer ticket warning area and the inner gate
  • Strong reports of riot police over-tactical
  • Lack of communication with fans outside the stadium
  • The emotional impact of late kick-off reasons
  • Problems entering and leaving the stadium

Jude Bellingham

Bellingham was just nine years old and playing for Birmingham Under-11s when his family first came into contact with moving to Merseyside.

Liverpool were one of several teams that proposed to the youngster in the early 2010s, following his impressive early foray into academy football at his boyhood club.

Back in 2012, that included a two-day trial at Kirkby Academy's training ground, where Bellingham attended training sessions and tours of the facility, accompanied by his parents, The Athletic reported.

"During his stay, he impressed the staff," explains James Pierce, "not only because of his skills, but also because of his maturity."

Brighton midfielder linked with Liverpool says he is Klopp fan

Brighton midfielder has given Liverpool green light for his signature after admitting he's a fan of Jurgen Klopp

  • Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Pascal Gross "loves Jurgen Klopp immensely" but said a move to Liverpool can be unlikely.

Pascal Gross

Rumors of a move by the 31-year-old to Liverpool was animated weeks ago after he impressed with an imperious performance against Manchester United on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

The German midfielder has three goals and two assists, which adds  to an excellent start for the Seagulls.

Speaking in an interview with Sport1 Gross said the transfer speculation: "I look from game to game. We are going a good way at Brighton.

"I’m a normal, down-to-earth guy. And I’m happy where I am now. The Champions League is a dream, but you also have to look at what’s important to you.

"Maybe the daily routine at another club is not right and at Brighton everything is just right for me. I stand for consistency; the club has given me a lot and I want to achieve a lot more.

“I have a lot of respect for Jürgen Klopp. He is a coach that everyone looks up to. What he achieves in his clubs is breath-taking. But I’m realistic about that, too. I don’t think that will happen.”

Spain decision on Thiago came as a boost for Liverpool

Thiago Alcantara won't be part of Spain's Nations League squad to face Switzerland and Portugal

Thiago Alcantara | Spain omission
Thiago Alcantara excluded from Spain's Nations League squad

The 31-year-old has only played four games for Liverpool this season. One of these games was the Community Shield, However, he had to miss five games due to a hamstring problem that he suffered on the first day of the season against Fulham.

Thiago returned to action at the beginning of the month; he played just under half an hour in the 4-1 defeat away at Napoli last week and made his first start since the Fulham setback in the 2-1 winners over Ajax at Amsterdam.

The postponement of two of Liverpool's league games was caused by the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II last week. The two postponed games were a home fixture against Wolves last week, as well as a trip to face Chelsea this week.

Thiago has appeared for his country in over 40 games since he was first included in the lineup in 2011 at 20 years of age. However, he's had a limited role in recent years and has been called up to the squad on only one occasion since the Euros held last year.

While he continues to regain fitness, Thiago's removal from the squad recently caused a significant strain among a host of injury problems in the team. The Liverpool midfielder is expected to make a significant impact during an intense stretch of games in October and November and Getting rid of the player would be a major positive for Klopp and Liverpool for this reason.

Although it will come as a threat to the midfielder's World Cup ambitions, the FIFA biggest tournament which is just months away.

What Klopp said about Arthur before loan truncation rumour emerged

It was stated that Jurgen Klopp is considering ending Arthur Melo's loan to Liverpool after just two weeks

Arthur Melo | Jurgen Klopp

The Brazilian midfielder is reportedly unlucky to have the Liverpool manager unhappy with him. It was suggested that Klopp doesn't like Melo and is willing to end his loan soon after he joined the team.

Arthur arrived on transfer deadline day as an emergency loanee from Juventus. Despite only one appearance as a substitute, there's been report in Italy that the 26-year-old has  been a poor performer compared to what Klopp has expected.

Popular journalist Guillem Balague  has rubbished these claims however, tweeting that the Merseyside club aren't less impressed with the midfielder.

Furthermore, everything Klopp has said publicly about Arthur shows that the Liverpool  boss is delighted to be working with the former Barcelona midfielder.

Klopp first said of Arthur when he joined the team: "What does he bring? He's a really good footballer – I think we all agree on that. He had a very exciting career already and still pretty young, so in the best age for a footballer or coming into the best age for a footballer.

"He gives rhythm, he can give rhythm, he's a really good passer, has speed with the ball, safe on the ball and, how I said, can demand rhythm, which is pretty important, really good in tight areas – all these kind of things. I like it a lot.

"And now, of course, it's like this, 'Why can you loan a player like this? Because it didn't work out 100 per cent at Juventus.' But I see that rather as a positive because the potential is, for sure, still there. We play obviously different to Juve and we all thought that could fit pretty well, so that's why I'm really pleased."

Arthur did not play in the 0-0 draw with Everton a few days later despite making the bench. Klopp said after the match: "Arthur is here and very good and very important for us but he didn't play football for a long, long time and yesterday played a rondo with us.

"We thought actually until last night that he would not be available, he was in the squad but it was not the plan to bring him on."

Klopp also spoke about Arthur after the game where the South American made his debut as a substitute in Liverpool's 4-1 loss to Napoli in the Champions League, the Liverpool manager said: "Arthur needs now just football - and training, especially, that's how it is. He wasn't in team training for a while at Juve, so he needs proper team training - and that's what we are doing with him.

"Can he play minutes? Yes. Should he play a full game? No, because he needs to get used to the intensity in each competition. It's not like in the Champions League you have to work less than in the Premier League.

"Not at all, especially not here. He is doing well, he is really giving his absolute all in training, we have to be careful with him as well and then we will see whether we can use him."

Arthur Melo joined the Reds Un-21 ranks on Saturday when the young Reds won Leicester City 1-0. It was offered as a fitness boost for the 26-year-old and is expected to return to the senior team when Jurgen Klopp's side host Brighton next month.

Mohamed Salah's first club director slams Todd Boehly's claims about the ex-Chelsea star

Mohamed Salah's first club chief doesn't take Todd Boehly's comments well about his former employee

Todd Boehly

Earlier this week, Chelsea chairman Boley rallied - not for the first time - to claim Salah, and
Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne is a product of his club's academy. In fact, the two world-class players were 21 and 20 when they joined the Blues.

Boehly stated at the SALT Conference in New York that "they have the best women's team in the world and one of the best academies in the world".

He further stated" "Our academy is Mo Salah, De Bruyne, Tammy Abraham, Reece James, Mason Mount, Chalobah."

Salah actually started his career at Cairo-based Almocolon, where he made 38 appearances for the club in a four-year period between 2006 and 2010. He even spent 18 months at the Swiss club Basel before joining the Premier League.

Al Mokawloon director Mohamed Adel Fathi slammed Boehly, writing in a Facebook post: "What Chelsea's new owners say shows a lack of understanding.

Boley was also ridiculed by fans for his blunders De Bruyne who started football at Genk academy as a student.

Disgraceful – Marcus Tavernier still haunted by Liverpool defeat

Liverpool celebrated their biggest ever Premier League victory with a 9-0 win over Bournemouth at Anfield weeks ago

Roberto Firmino | Liverpool | Bournemouth | 9-0

Liverpool had a disappointing start to the Premier League season. Their first three games ended in draws against Crystal Palace and Fulham, and a loss to Manchester United. However, the Reds' frustration turned into aggression when they host Scott Parker's team at Anfield. After being defeated 2-1 by United, the Reds humbled Bournemouth with nine baton runs.

The defeat led to the dismissal of Scott Parker as the Cherries manager.

Bournemouth midfielder Tavernier still had horrible memories of his nightmare at Anfield, he recalls his experience speaking in an interview: "Obviously you can get beat at places, but it was the manner and the way that we got beat," he said.

"It was disgraceful, if you like to say. It was one of the lowest I've ever been in my football career, getting beat 9-0 - it's unheard of in football terms.

"The best thing was that we had to show a reaction as quick as possible. We had a game not that long after and we showed that reaction."

Bellingham celebrates his goal against Manchester City.

Bellingham continues to grow rapidly at Dortmund thanks to his superb performance in the loss to Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday nights.

The 19-year-old midfielder scored his third goal of the season against the Citizens. But, again, questions were raised about the young man's future before the game.

Liverpool are believed to be frontrunner for Bellingham's signature in their bid to revitalise an aging and prone to injury midfield.

Manchester United and Man City have also been credited with an interest for the midfielder, however there is a call to dread from European bigwigs Real Madrid.

Todd Boehly, a new co-owner of Chelsea, broke the record for the most money ever spent on a single summer when he spent £271 million between July and September. Only weeks after the window closed, Boehly fired coach Thomas Tuchel and bought out his share of the club.

Now, according to the Sun, the Blues are looking at splashing out once again in the shot run, this time around for long-term Liverpool target Bellingham.

Bellingham spoke about his future before Dortmund's Champions League lost to City, the 21-year-old said: "The club [Dortmund] have done loads for me and made me feel very welcome since I first came and gave me the opportunities to develop even further.

"To look past that and into the future would be disrespectful."

Amid claims that returning to England is a long-term goal, Bellingham answered: "It's a massive game against Man City. To even be thinking about something like that would be crazy."

Since joining the Anfield club Arthur has only featured ones coming as a substitute and a report going viral has indicated that the Brazilian hasn't been impressive in training - why Jurgen Klopp is looking at terminating his loan spell before February.

But renowned journalist Guillem Balague has jumped to defence of the former Barcelona midfielder rubbished such claims.

Balague wrote on Twitter: "Liverpool have not decided to extend the loan or buy Arthur but  have no intention to send him back in January. They are still assessing him. In fact the coaching staff congratulated him on his understanding of the system and his quality." @GuillemBalague

Caicedo relishing the prospect of playing under Graham Potter at Chelsea

Liverpool were linked with the Ecuadorian midfielder in the summer. The Reds had the chance to sign him during the closing stages of the window but opted for a bargain move for Arthur Melo instead.

Caicedo was rumoured  to be valued at around £40 million during the summer transfer window,  but that claim was quickly brushed off by Brighton former Boss Graham Potter, jokingly admitting that the player would value around €100 million.

The Brighton midfielder is now looking at the prospect of reuniting with his former boss at Chelsea which he admitted it would be difficult to turn down.

"Right now I’m very focused on Brighton and the World Cup. I want to have a great World Cup and then we’ll see what happens. I think they [Chelsea] are one of the best teams in the world and nobody would turn down an offer from Chelsea or any other club like that.

"It’d be a dream to be in the best teams in the world and succeed there."

Because of the head-to-head record, we're predicting in the both teams to score market.

Our reasoning for this is because both teams have only scored each  other in only one of the last five matches between them.

Furthermore, Liverpool and Napoli have only seen both teams score in two of their last three matches. Consequently, you can use recent form to further support our prediction.

Liverpool faces intense pressure when competing in Europe's premier competition. The European Cup has been lifted six times by the Reds.

Despite this, Napoli has an apparent attraction to the Anfield club and can boastfully admit that they have scored five goals, four more than the Reds , bagging seven points in their last four meetings.

Liverpool played a Merseyside derby on Saturday; therefore, it will be a very difficult task for the Mersey Reds to defeat Napoli.
